This 1/48 scale conversion kit by ATTIC allows you to convert the Glencoe Jupiter-C kit and Revell Mercury Capsule into a model of Alan Shepard's Mercury-Redstone spacecraft. The ATTIC kit accurately represents Shepard's capsule, which differs significantly (it has 2x round portholes, for instance) from Glenn's capsule modeled in the Revell kit. The kit offers two options, either a solid resin capsule or a replacement capsule skin which you fill with Revell kit parts. In either case you use the Revell kit escape tower. The kit consists of 4 resin pieces, a 5-page instruction booklet and color reference, and a large decal sheet. The 4 resin pieces are the solid resin capsule and alternate capsule skin, the adapter ring with umbilical fairings, and the replacement for the upper portion of the Jupiter-C's body. This replacement body piece (longer than the Jupiter-C pieces) has the correct pattern of weld joints (raised lines as on the real vehicle) to match the pattern on the lower Jupiter-C kit body.
